JOY DAVIDSON returns to the theatre with...
- three one-woman plays: MARIA: The Life and Loves of Maria Callas (Alma H. Bond), ALICE: An Evening with the Tart-Tongued Alice Roosevelt Longworth (Kitty Felde), HEPBURN: Tea At five ()
- the Tony Award winning play "Master Class" (Terrence McNally), and
- as Narrator for various orchestral performances.
The three one-woman plays, MARIA , ALICE and HEPBURN are available in two formats:
- 60 minutes with an additional 30 minutes question-and-answer period or
- 90 minutes
The plays have been proven successful for general theatre audiences with sold out performances. Each has significant historical content and is particularly appropriate for educational programs e.g.:
MARIA: Opera Companies' fund-raisers for Guild activities, apprentice programs; college and university music programs. A master class with Miss Davidson for vocal students/young artists is available in conjunction with the theatrical booking.ALICE: Historical Societies, particularly those with an interest in the Roosevelt Family; Life-Long Learning
HEPBURN: The first act takes place in September 1938. The second act takes place in February 1983, after Hepburn was injured in a car crash.
Programs targeting adult education. Set suggestions and performance fees are open to negotiation with Miss Davidson. Joy Davidson is also available for the leading role of Maria Callas in the drama-critics award winning play, "Master Class" (Terrance McNally) and for the role of Narrator in a variety of symphony orchestra performances, e.g. "Peter and the Wolf" (Sergei Prokofiev) and "Facade" (music by William Walton; poetry by Edith Sitwell)
